A broad canvas
One of the really exciting things for us here at Mellerstain is seeing what wonderful and different scenarios some of the couples who marry here choose to create. The House itself can form a spectacular backcloth for son et lumière-style lightshows; the lake has a magical Arthurian quality, and acts as a huge mirror for fireworks to be reflected in. There is ample space for both large banqueting marquees and smaller gazebo-style ones.
Set the scene
The approach to the House itself is perfect for recreating "Merchant-Ivory moments". Set in beautiful parkland with a sweeping drive and plenty of space, you can arrive with as much style and panache as you like - in a vintage car, on horseback, by balloon, or in a coach and four. Because the place is yours, and yours alone, for the duration of your wedding here, we can be very flexible about how you choose to orchestrate and conduct the celebrations.
Go to town in the country
Mellerstain is the perfect venue to unleash your imagination and really go to town. With ample space for outdoor events and entertainment - traditional, contemporary, or avant garde - how you choose to create your own piece of theatre (literally, if you wish!) is up to you.
