 Mellerstain, the grand design among Scotland’s finest stately homes, has been open to the public for fifty years, and we are delighted that through the wonders of modern technology you are able to visit us ‘virtually’ today. We hope you find something of interest in the site, and are encouraged to come and see this historic Adam mansion in real life!Great country houses like Mellerstain reflected the new-found optimism and stability of a more enlightened and prosperous Scotland in the eighteenth century, and the splendid Robert Adam interiors, with their classical plasterwork friezes and glowing colours, have survived the fads and fashions of successive generations to give us a remarkably complete picture of a stately home as it would have been 230 years ago.

As a grand stage and setting for weddings and other celebrations, Mellerstain offers elegant reception rooms and stunning vistas, and our suite of four-poster bedrooms, makes this a venue with real impact.
