Anna King

Anna King has achieved early recognition of her outstanding talent as a landscape painter in winning the 2007 Jolomo Lloyds TSB Scotland Award, from among eighty-five entrants. "I prefer wild places, like scrubland. I was born in Shetland where the landscape is very barren... and find myself drawn to lost, empty places such as a view from the roadside, usually only seen flashing past through a car window, or the outskirts of a city. I love to find areas of land that have gone feral, open space or wasteland amongst the urban sprawl. These in-between, unnoticed areas of land seem forgotten and separate, creating a mental sense of space as well as a physical one."
